it's officially summer vacation 'round these here parts. while posting on the toque has slowed dramatically over the last year, it's been a full-on stop these past few weeks. the day-to-day is captured over on twitter. my occasional rants on all things financial and/or pop cultural are over on the tumblr.

the work front has been quiet. still plugging along in the consumer bank. still waiting to see whether i'll stay in the consumer bank or move back to the investment bank. either way, i'm still in risk management, so i'll be cleaning up someone's mess. but, as i've said to people before, they keep paying me, so i'll keep showing up.

the gf and i have kept ourselves busy in the usual fashion. there have been many Yankee games. a few concerts. a Broadway show. dinners. drinks. day-trips. cultural consumption. we've also still on our week-long sojourn in the Southeastern U.S., first to Atlanta to see her folks, then over to Kiawah Island for a few days of nothing but sleeping, eating, pooling, lather-rinse-repeat. it was good to be away, unplugged, and unaware of the outside world. it was also good to see friends we hadn't seen in awhile.

all in all, it's been a very quiet summer. nothing earth-shattering or mind-blowing. just a comfortable and easy stretch of weeks where work hasn't been that awful and amusement hasn't been that hard to find. maybe it's not such a bad thing - our autumn looks to be quite busy between our move to a new apartment (still to be determined), our continued wedding planning, my move to a new job, and other assorted life tasks.

just a few more weeks of real summer to go. here's hoping they're as comfortable and easy as the last few have been.
